How do nanoliquids work?

TNT™ nanoliquid™ products effectively work as a delivery system for both nutrients and plant protection products. The nanoparticle protects molecules from environmental losses and efficiently delivers them to plants at the cellular level. A biological process called endocytosis engulfs and brings the nanoparticles into and through the cell membrane where the “payload” is then emptied.

What is nanoliquid™ technology?

Nanoliquid™ technology is proven and patented; it encapsulates the inputs you already use into tiny nanoparticles that glide through foliar and root barriers, lodging themselves in the right locations within a turf plant to deliver their payloads. Nanotechnology is relatively new to the turf industry but is being studied and used across multiple fields including science, mechanics, electronics, biology, medicine and agriculture.

How do nanoliquid™ particles load and unload?

Particles can load in a couple ways:
1. Electrical charges play a role where opposites attract. Some particles can be negatively or positively charged to attract desired nutrients. For example, a negative charged particle will attract potassium or calcium.
2. Diffusion is where areas of high concentration move to areas of low concentration. For example, a liquid 16-3-5 fertilizer in solution will migrate into empty nanoparticles when NanoBoost™ is added to the tank. This process “loads” the nanoparticles, which are now ready for delivery to the plant.
The processes above operate in reverse “unloading” once inside plant cells.

Are TNT™ nanoliquids organic?

Short answer is no. While TNT™ promotes environmental stewardship through nanoliquid™ technology by enhancing uptake, its silica mineral composition is not considered organic.

What are TNT™ nanoparticles made of and where do they come from?

Nanoparticles are defined as mesoporous silica-based nanoscopic spheres, or particles (~100nm and less). We source mined Zeolites from ancient volcanic formations and then process them to our exact specifications, rates, and sizes. More simply, think of them as “mineral sponges'' with a high affinity for absorbing other molecules added to spray solutions.

Product Use Topics

What kind of different nanoliquid products does TNT™ offer?

Nano Activators
NanoFuse™ (0-0-0) is our turf protection product, designed to be paired with your a.i. chemistries.
NanoCharge™ (1-0-0) is our turf nutrition product, designed to be paired with your liquid fertilizers.

Nano Fertilizers
NanoNitro™ (26-0-0), NanoComplete™ (16-3-5), NanoKommand™ (12-0-12), and NanoRange™ (16-0-5) are our current line of macronutrient products.

What rate do I apply TNT™ nanoliquid products?

Our general application rate for Nano Activators is 0.2 oz. per 1000ft2, Nano Fertilizers vary based on desired nitrogen rates and analysis. Low use rates make TNT™ nanoliquids easy to use and incorporate into many spray programs.

What is the cost?

Roughly $1.00 per (5M) green for adding Nano Activators to fertility or pesticide spray solutions. Prices on the fertilizer products vary based on application rates.

Do I need to change my current fertility program?

You don’t have to change your program to add TNT™. Adding our nanoliquid™ products into your current fertility and turf protection program is easy. Our solutions enhance the efficiency of your current turf inputs without disrupting your current approach.

How can TNT™ nanoliquid™ products be applied?

TNT™ products can be applied with any application of liquid fertilizer or turf protection. TNT™ nanoliquids are truly easy to implement and are user friendly.

What is the shelf life of TNT™ products?

TNT™ nanoliquid™ products stay in suspension and will not fall out.

Can I mix TNT™ nanoliquid™ products with any turf input product?

TNT™ products are highly compatible with many turf input products. A compatibility test is recommended before applying combinations of this product with any other product. TNT™ liquid products are not intended to be used with dry fertilizers.

Can I use multiple TNT™ products in an application and/or throughout a growing season?

We generally recommend that products are chosen based on soil or in-season tissue testing as well as nutrient requirements of the specific turf variety and species. If there is a need to mix multiple nanoliquid products for one application, please consult with a TNT™ representative.

What order should I mix TNT™ Nano Activator products with other inputs?

  1. Fill tank
  2. Condition/buffer water if needed
  3. Add fertilizers/chemistries
  4. Add TNT product
  5. Add surfactants, spreaders/stickers

The Nano Activator rates for NanoFuse and NanoCharge seem very low at 0.2oz/1000ft, can I add more for an even better response?

There is no need to exceed the recommended label rates, adding more than specified won’t cause phytotoxicity-related harm but may actually lessen overall benefits as this may cause the nanoparticles to agglomerate (bind together) thus lowering their chemical potential.

Turf Response Topics

Can TNT™ nanoliquid™ products be applied only in certain areas of the country?

Our nanoliquid™ technology has delivered success across the toughest proving grounds in North America and the world.

How have nanoliquid™ products been tested?

TNT™ has conducted a vigorous trial campaign to prove nanotechnology. TNT™ has also enlisted several universities and third-party cooperators ongoing to test products head-to-head with the industry standard fertility and turf protection programs in both turf and our other ag. product lines are tested in row crops.

How do TNT products improve upon basic nutrient diffusion from the soil solution into the turf plant?

The nanoparticles absorb and hold nutrients to help protect against environmental losses like immobilization, volatilization and precipitation. This allows for greater overall uptake into the plant both foliarly and through roots.

What turf response should I expect?

Look for several things when using TNT™ nanoliquids:

Turfgrass Fertility: When key nutrients and protectants are delivered to plants at the cellular level, expect a significant turf response. TNT™ has measured many quality aspects including improved tensile strength and increased density.

Pest Control (a.i.s): Improved results when applying standard label rates, or comparable results to standards when applying lower label rates.
